The 13th Annual Adelaide Flamenco Bootcamp - 2024

WHAT IS BOOTCAMP?

Since the inaugural bootcamp in 2011, the Adelaide Flamenco Bootcamp has become a tradition to get the body, mind and soul ready for another great year of Flamenco Dance! Developed by Roshanne in Spain and Australia, the Flamenco Bootcamp is and internationally-recognised speciality of Roshanne’s and is the first of its kind in Australia.

The Flamenco Bootcamp offers multi-levelled, high-energy training where all dancers (above total beginner) will be pushed to develop technique and stamina over consecutive sessions with a special focus on body conditioning. The Bootcamp is a unique and tailored Flamenco experience and a brilliant way to drill and boost your Flamenco skills to their maximum potential in a short timeframe.

The Adelaide Bootcamp consists of 6 x 90 minute sessions over a 2 week period. Although full attendance is recommended for maximum results, one 90-minute bootcamp session is better than none!

Each class is unique and comprehensive, and partial attendance does not pose a problem. Comprehensive training covers multi-levelled footwork, armwork and hands, body work and extension, marcaje, palmas, various styles of turns and remates for fin de fiesta palos designed to work the entire body for all different levels.

REGISTRATION IS NECESSARY. Places are limited.

Beginners 3-Day Flamenco Dance Course

This 3-day Flamenco dance course for the Absolute Beginner will introduce you to the passionate and empowering dance of the Spanish Gypsy! Olé! 💃🏽

Level 1: Beginners - Lower Intermediate: Bulerías

Suitable for students with 6 months + dance experience. This course will explore a fun and grounded style of dancing, body work coordination, remates, and some footwork.

Level 2: Intermediate - Advanced: Farruca

For all dancers above beginner level. This courses focuses on the development of a new Farruca choreography looking at the character and techniques of the palo with marcaje, remates, use of dynamics and footwork.

Level 3: Alma Company Performance Course for advanced students & aspiring professionals performing July 2024

Manuel is going to train this group of participants the way he would train his own professional company in Spain. The utmost professionalism and full attendance is required to complete this course. This course is specifically looking at stage work, direction, performance dynamics, blocking and professional company skills development. Manuel will choreograph an exclusive dance for this performing group and block it depending on the number of people who register. This dance will be performed at Brighton Performing Arts Theatre July 2024 and other events as an ensemble.

Ursula is a Master of Castanets and she will be drilling technique at a lower intermediate level and movements for Seguiriyas with castanets.

For beginner to elementary levels focusing on fundamental techniques with the bata in the palo of Fandango de Huelva.

The Cajón Series – Adelaide

For Flamenco-lovers, percussionists, and cajón enthusiasts, we are excited to launch The Cajon Series in Adelaide! All are welcome!!! 🙂

 3 of Australia’s finest cajón players are offering instruction on how to play Flamenco cajón! Each will share their unique skills, techniques and grooves.

Custom-designed and world renowned cajóns will also be available for purchase . Some rentals are available. Book Early!

Level 1 Beginners: Jaleo 

A workshop suitable for students with 6 months + dance experience. This course will explore a fun and grounded style of dancing, body work coordination and some footwork.

Level 2 Intermediate: Bulerias de Cadiz

For all dancers above beginner level. This courses focuses on the development of a new Bulerias de Cadiz  choreography looking at the character of the palo with marcaje, remates, and the extension and use of dynamics. The course will also explore the changeability of these skills and style into other Bulerias styles. 

Level 3 Advanced/Professional: Falsetas en 12s

For dancers of an advanced to professional level. Falsetas will cover body work, turns, and footwork melodies with a focus on cross-palo use and improvisation.

Caracoles Revision Class 

For anyone who has learned and practiced Manuel’s Caracoles (2018) thoroughly. An opportunity to have the Maestro himself review our work and polish the dance to HIS standard!

This Venezuelan has devoted most of her life to dance, moving through different disciplines since 7 years old (Contemporary Dance, This Venezuelan has devoted most of her life to dance, moving through different disciplines since 7 years old (Contemporary Dance, Ballet, Flamenco and Latin-American Folklore). Her studies have been developed in both Venezuela and Spain for over more than 18 years, leading her to win a scholarship in the prestigious CDFCBF (Ciclo Dedicado a la Formación Completa del Baile Flamenco) at ‘Amor de Dios’, Madrid (2013). She has been part of international companies like Siudy Garrido’s Company and ‘Venezuela Viva Company’, with whom she served as Soloist and Lead dancer, for over 6 years. In the 16 years of her professional career, Chachy has performed in prominent theaters in Mexico, Colombia, USA, Germany, Netherlands, Switzerland, Luxembourg and Spain. Today she is living in Sydney and teaches audiences of all ages.

SOLEÁ POR BULERÍAS CHOREOGRAPHY with Technique for Turns (Upper Intermediate to Professional)

This level will be pitched at an advanced-professional level. It will cover advanced turn techniques and will develop a falseta and a letra (including remates) in Soleá por Bulerías. If time permits, an escobilla will be covered por Soleá por Bulerías.

TANGOS CHOREOGRAPHY with Technique for Turns (Elementary to Lower Intermediate)

  • Total 4.5hrs

This level will cover fundamental techniques for various turns and will build a choreography por Tangos focusing on expression in the body, diverse body techniques and remates por Tangos. Perfect to end a Tientos, Tarantos, or Farucca or to develop your por fiesta material.
